NCUHS math teacher Don Maloney has many sides that you may not guess when you see him in the classroom. Upon returning from Christmas Break many students and faculty members noticed he was thiner with a severe case of frost bite on his face. The link to the slides below represent Mr. Maloney's two trips to Argentina's Mt. Aconcagua. It is the highest mountain in the western and southern hemispheres (22,841feet tall). The intrepid purveyor of arithmetic's first trip was during the winter, and avalanches prevented him from getting to the mountain. The 2nd trip took Mr. Maloney to 20,000 feet, but he had to make a choice of summiting or bringing down a man from Mexico City who had cerebral edema (which can be fatal). Don will be going back in two years to try his luck again, and we all wish him luck and good weather to bring him safely to the summit.
