F.42 GRADUATION REQUIRMENT, COURSE LOAD and GRADE LEVEL ADVANCEMENT POLICY

Graduation Eligibility Requirements:

English 4 years 16 credits
Math 3 years 12 credits
Social Studies 3 years 12 credits (World History, Government and Economics. U.S. History)
Science 3 years 12 credits
Teen Leadership 1 semester 2 credits (or one year of JROTC equaling 4 credits)
Health 1 semester 2 credits
Physical Education 3 semesters 6 credits
Fine Arts 2 semesters
4 credits
66 credits + 26 additional credits = 92 credits
In addition to the course and credit requirements, students must demonstrate competency in computer skills through work completed in core classes.

Course Load: All students are required to be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) blocks of instruction each semester. Students planning on continuing their education after high school should be enrolled in seven or eight (7-8) blocks of instruction.

Students must make up any failed core courses (English, math, science and social studies) during the year immediately following the school year of the failed course. Math must be passed in proper sequence. English, social studies and science have more flexibility in sequencing.
Students who fail a core course with a 55 – 59 are eligible to make up that course during summer school immediately following the school year when the core course was failed. A maximum of two courses may be taken during one complete summer school session.
Students may advance to Grade 12 at the end of the first semester of a school year ONLY if they are scheduled for and passing all of the courses and credits necessary for completion of graduation requirements by June of that year. Students eligible to be seniors are the ONLY students who may advance to the next grade level at mid-year.
Students must have the designation as Senior in order to participate in senior meetings and activities.
Students may participate only in those activities and meetings designated for their current grade level.
Students who do not achieve junior status at the start of a school year will not be considered for student parking permits during that school year.
